Image Analysis

When we see people, are they really who they are, or are they just masked with a whole new identity. I feel like thats what the dove campaign is about. Its just a bunch of hidden identities that we don't know about.  You see a woman come into the studio with her true identity, but the next thing you notice is that she is just standing there while her face is masked with make-up and her hair is done. The next thing you see is this beautiful girl who looks like a model. Is that really what we think beautiful means? I always thought of beauty as what lies within you not how you look or dress. All of the photo-shop done on her really doesn't define her true self. The definition of beauty has completely changes, and the dove campaign shows that. Same goes with the little girl in the second ad. You see her smiling in the beginning, with no make-up on but then at the end her smile is gone and there's make-up on her face. The beauty industry isn't really what they claim to be.

  1. I totally agree with you, the meaning of what "beauty" means has changed. When I think of what 'beauty" is I think about whats on the inside of a person. All the characteristics that make them beautiful on the inside is what I really think true beauty means. Just like you said the beauty industry has totally brainwashed everyone into thinking that in order to be beautiful they need to look like the models in the pictures when in fact the models really don't look like that without all of the photo enhancements.
