eReality

eReality by Bailey Stewart
Neil Clark Warren obtains a degree from Princeton, earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, has written over ten books and has been featured in over 7,000 radio broadcasts and commercials combined. One may ask “who is this man and what is his significance?” Think of the popular online dating site known as “eHarmony.” He is the voice of the company. His friendly smile is plastered on along with his grandfather like traits in the duration of every eHarmony commercial. He is a persuasive man explaining the company to the world. What product is he trying to sell? Love. Can love really be discovered by being matched up on a dating site? Or even if hypothetically two people fall “in love,” would it ever be as sincere as meeting someone in person for the first time? Sherry Turkle states “Human relationship are rich and they’re messy and they’re demanding. And we clean them up with technology. And when we do, one of the things that can happen is that we sacrifice conversation for mere communication.”     From her novel Alone Together.  If two people met online would the remainder of their relationship stay consistent by typing behind a computer screen?  The way couples meet, the amount of affection, and morals have drastically changed over the decades. Elements of relationships have changed but has the way we love one another been a large change as well?
