Prompt 3 (Michael Mitchell)
Men are too often expected to be everything a woman could ever dream of. Abs of steel, perfect hair, and a smile the entire universe. Every year as we talked about in our W131 class the clothing store Abercrombie and Fitch place shirtless models outside of their store one of them being male. Most people might walk by the store and think nothing about it other than hey its a shirtless guy, but nobody stops to think today about the message this images sends to young men to be perfect. While shopping in the store you might hear murmurs of girls talking about how attractive the male is and then young men spend the rest of their lives with the idea that that is what you have to strive to look like to ever find someone who will love you. Now lets be honest how many men do you see walking down the street that looks like this man right here? I think its time to accept the way we were made. It happens all to much in our society that woman become the attention of insecurities and not being treated equal but it happens all too much in our society that a man can be hurt and put down just as easy as a woman can. This images of a shirtless Abercrombie model portrays the image of what the company believe the average teenage to early 20 year old woman wants to see. As we watching in our class when men of all shapes and sizes entered the flagship store in New York shirtless they were treated very rudely and even denied the opportunity to by a shirt. This company as we can see is destroying peoples self image of themselves and that goes for men and woman. We should all be comfortable in our own skin and accepting of who are. A company who's main purpose is to take our money should not be the same people telling us if we are attractive or not. Universal standards need to be thrown out the window and we need to all form our own ideas and thoughts.

I agree completely with what you talked about. Stereotypes ruin everything. We are not meant to be perfect and we should not be held to such high standards.
